We’ve just tumbled out of school holidays and back into routine today and honestly? It feels like a bit of a reset button. The house is quiet, the day is structured again, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to create from here on out. Being online can feel so loud most of the time, it can feel like I'm just adding to the noise. Honestly there's no subject that hasn't been covered to death at this point. So staying inspired and creating unique content can feel like a mammoth task.
I’ve been in this space for years, sharing content, helping brands, teaching creatives and while that’s still such a joy for me, I’ve realised the things that really light me up are way simpler. Good design. Delicious food. Healthy living. The small, everyday luxuries that make the work we do feel worth it.
So instead of trying to keep up with what everyone else is posting, today I thought I'd just give you a very real look at what’s actually giving my joy right now. Consider this a little curated list from my kitchen counters, my desk, and the corners of our home of things that light me up right now:
An office or home that smells like a spa. Amanda-Jayne’s orange blossom home frangrance is everything. Fresh, invigorating, a little luxurious. Nothing makes me feel more put-together than a workspace that smells beautiful.
Our daily coffee ritual. We’ve had our Rocket espresso machine for over ten years, and it’s still the best investment we’ve ever made. Pair it with Woolies’ organic coffee beans (easy and smooth with minimal after taste) and you’ll understand why I guard our morning cappuccinos like treasure. Dyl has refined his coffee making so much now, its such a treat I look forward to every day, that I NEVER take for granted!
A spoonful of happiness. In my fridge right now I have a permanent supply of granadilla curd. Sweet, tangy, sunshine in a jar. Yes, I eat it straight off the spoon whenever I walk past the fridge. No shame. Made by: Our Farm Culture (my moms farm store)
New knits @ half the price. Just Cruizin currently has 50% off, and I couldn’t resist new classic knits, for the end of this season and next. They're soft, timeless, and guilt-free at that discount.
Shoes that last forever. My new Phelan leather shoes feel like a little “old money, modern” moment. A classic that I know I’ll wear for years.
Finally hanging frames. London called me out the other day: “Mom, you’re a photographer. Why don’t we have any pictures on the walls? Especially of me.” Fair point. After four years in this house, I’m finally filling frames with memories instead of letting them sit empty.
Finally got a wireless microphone for recording: We've been shopping around for decent wireless mics to simplify our home studio setup and these ones from DJI came out on top
So THIS is where I am right now: letting go of the pressure to keep up, and leaning into the small things that bring me joy. Maybe it’s the post-holiday reset talking, but it feels like the right kind of fresh start.
